Kenya Young Greens is a national membership based Non‐Governmental Organization registered in Kenya under the Societies Act Cap 108 Laws of Kenya.

The organization was founded in January 2007 after a founding conference for Global Young Greens in Kenya in which youths from around the world who believe in the Greens principle decided to establish a social movement for young people to advance the noble principles of the Greens which include; Ecological sustainability, Social Justice, Participatory Democracy, Peace and non‐violence.

The Kenyan participants came together and formed a local national young greens organization to further these principles locally in order to provide space and a forum for the youth. The organization was therefore called The Kenya Young Greens.

Kenya young Greens is non‐political in its nature and operation and functions entirely as a social movement.

The organization has four thematic program areas:

  • Ecological Sustainability
  • Peace and Non‐Violence
  • Gender, Participatory Democracy and Governance
  • The Millennium Development Goals
